Merit based admission in JIHS
The quality of input (students) invariably affects the quality of outputs (graduates) of the Institution. That’s why JIHS requires admission of students who meet the minimum entry required by Health Education and Training (HET) and NCHE.
Minimum entry requirement for diploma programs.
- Diploma in Nursing Extension/Diploma in Midwifery Extension (DNE/DME) (must have a certificate in nursing or midwifery respectively, and two years of experience from time of initial licensure by Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council)
- Diploma in Nursing or Midwifery (DND/DMD) (Minimum of O’ Level passes in Biology, Chemistry, English, Mathematics and Physics and 1 principle pass in Biology and Subsidiary in Chemistry for or Certificate in any Health related courses e.g Nursing, Laboratory, Environmental Health Sciences etc)
- Diploma in Clinical Medicine (DCM) (Minimum of O’ Level passes in Biology, Chemistry, English, Mathematics and Physics and 1 principle pass in Biology and Subsidiary in Chemistry for or Certificate in any Health related courses e.g Nursing, Laboratory, Environmental Health Sciences etc)
- Diploma in Pharmacy (Minimum of O’ Level passes in Biology, Chemistry, English, Mathematics and Physics, a a principle pass in chemistry and Subsidiary in biology at A Level or Certificate in Health related courses for Diploma in Pharmacy.
- Diploma in Medical Radiography (DMR) ((Minimum of O’ Level passes in Biology, Chemistry, English, Mathematics and Physics and 1 principle pass in Biology and Subsidiary in Chemistry for or Certificate in any Health related courses e.g Nursing, Laboratory, Environmental Health Sciences etc))
- Diploma in Health Service Management and Leadership (Diploma in any health related course)
Minimum entry requirement for Certificate programs.
All Certificate courses;
- Certificate in Nursing
- Certificate in Midwifery
- Certificate in Theatre Technics
- Certificate in Pharmacy
- Certificate in Medical Records
Minimum of O’ Level passes in Biology, Chemistry, English, Mathematics and Physics
